A Message From The Executive Director Regarding Rate Increase
To ensure the proper operation of the Authority and continue our aggressive water main replacement program, it has become necessary for the Authority to modestly increase water rates. The Authority seeks to control operating costs while balancing the need for capital improvements and providing exceptional customer service.
Effective January 1, 2017, the Authority’s service charge will increase from $15.00 to $17.00 on a bi-monthly basis and water usage will increase from $3.77 per thousand to $4.00 per thousand. An average customer using 10 thousand gallons of water every two months will see their bill increase $4.30 bi-monthly or $25.80 per year. Former customers of Hampton and Shaler Township last saw water rate increases in 2008. Even with this rate increase, customers of the Authority will continue to be among the lowest water rate payers in western Pennsylvania. As always, the Hampton Shaler Water Authority’s Board of Directors and staff strive to provide our customer’s quality, potable water service at the most affordable of prices.
