Water Meter Upgrades- Shaler Residents
New Water Meter Upgrades coming to Shaler Township Residents
Hampton Shaler Water Authority (HSWA) will soon begin a meter change-out program for all Shaler Township residents. The project is expected to take approximately 5 years to complete and will start around Friday Rd (Heights, Vermillion, Hiram, Mathilda, Park, Catherine etc.,) and work north. There is no cost to the customer.
What to expect:
- HSWA will reach out by phone or mail, in advance of being in your neighborhood to request scheduling of replacement and a photo of the existing meter spread.
- Appointments typically last about 30-45 minutes, with water being off during the appointment.
- The new reading device will be fastened to the outside of the home to improve reading capabilities.
Benefits of upgrading:
- The new equipment transmits reads multiple times per day, allowing leaks to be identified quicker.
- Improved reading technology will help reduce estimated bills.
- Since employees will no longer touch-read going up to each building, safety will be improved
How Residents Can Prepare:
- Provide photos in advance of appointment by using the QR code provided or emailing info@hamptonshalerwater.gov.
- Clear the area of the water meter for ease of access.
- Keep curb box clear of landscaping and debris.
- All pressure regulators must be placed before the meter. If yours is in the wrong place, HSWA can move it to the proper location once a waiver of liability has been completed. Alternatively, a plumber can be contracted by the property owner to complete the work prior to the meter change out. Any hand valve (internal main shut off) will not be changed by HSWA.
